As you may have read in my previous post, for Scheepjes' YARN book-a-zine issue 8 (Sep 2019) called Tea Room I designed the Blooming Tea Cosy.
Your response to it has been so amazing that as a thank you I've designed a coaster to accompany it. I hope you like the Blooming Coaster and that I will see you share it on social media with #bloomingcoaster @thecuriocraftsroom and #thecuriocraftsroom

The pattern is available in US, UK, Dutch and German and there's also a PDF version (same languages) that you can purchase in my Etsy and Ravelry shops for a small fee.

New YARN Book-a-Zine Out Now: 16 Gorgeous Projects

Today issue number 8 of Scheepjes' YARN book-a-zine has been launched! For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's a biannual publication filled to the brim with crochet and knitting projects and each issue centres around a specific theme. This time it's Tea Room and the stylist and creative directors at Scheepjes have done such an amazing job to present all the designs so beautifully. It's really a feast for the eyes and I'm sure you won't be able to resist making some of the projects.

As you may know, I'm one of the Scheepjes bloggers and we are always closely involved in creating the contents, so I'm always very excited when a new issue is published. Even more so for this one, because I designed something for it myself: the Blooming Tea Cosy.

Stay tuned because next week
I’ll have a little surprise for you
that’s related to my Tea Cosy design…….

Designing a tea cosy was a little out of my comfort zone because I'd never made anything that had to be sewn together. But surprisingly, I designed and made it in just three days and if you'd like to make it but feel that it might just be a bit too difficult, it's really not. If you're an intermediate crocheter, you should be just fine.

I mentioned the impressive styling....well, have a look at the way my Tea Cosy was photographed! There are bunnies.....and a lovely girl in a top hat......and a vintage tea cup.......and cakes.......and the most beautiful grey-haired lady with a clock painted on her cheek.....gosh, so very Alice in Wonderland and I love it.

But there are 16 projects in YARN book-a-zine, so let me just show you a few more, all designed by my blogger friends, to get a real feel for it's style.

This is Nerissa Muijs' Spice Market Snood, a gorgeously textured oversized cowl perfect for winter and a relatively quick make.

Below is Jellina Verhoeff's Leaves Scarf, a lovely tapestry crochet scarf (which looks really beautiful paired with a beautiful man bun on a beautiful head.....yes, I'm partial to man buns and I think the stylist is too, because in the previous issue of YARN you can find another cool man bun....but enough about man buns......). If you haven't tried tapestry crochet before, this is a great beginner's project to learn the technique.

By now you're probably wondering how to get your hands on a copy. Well, YARN is available from many (online) retailers and I have selected a few.

Wool Warehouse

Black Sheep Wools (international)
Deramores (international)

I hope you've been inspired to get a copy, select a project and make something (or two somethings) this autumn. And share on social media if you can @scheepjes and #yarnbookazine. And of course let me know when you're making my Blooming Tea Cosy! #bloomingteacosy @thecuriocraftsroom

Okay, one more design: Maria McPherson's Saffron Wrap with tiny beads. How gorgeous is this?
