Star Beam Shawl: Crochet Shawl Pattern

free crochet pattern shawl wrap the curio crafts room thecuriocraftsroom star beam shawl
Over the last few weeks I've been working on my second shawl design in a series of at least four and today I have the pattern for you! In my previous post I talk about the special shape of this shawl and how versatile it is: you can wear it in many different ways and you can adjust it to any length you'd like. You'll also find some more photos in that same post.
I hope you'll enjoy making it and please share photos of your WIPs and FOs on IG and/or in my Facebook Group The Curio Crafts Room Community #starbeamshawl #thecuriocraftsroom

Star Beam Shawl

Below you'll find the pattern in US crochet terms, with the UK equivalents in the table (also below).
You can find the Dutch pattern here. Je vindt het Nederlandse patroon hier.

In my Ravelry and Etsy shops you can purchase a PDF version of this pattern at a discounted price.
The advantages of the PDF version are:
  • Clear layout with instructions in bullet-point format
  • Chart
  • A few photos to support the instructions
  • Similar graphic design as all of my other PDF patterns
  • You support my work so that I can continue to publish free patterns and offer discount codes
Thank you!

Stitch Instructions
5dc-popcorn: Work 5dc in same st/sp, remove hook from loop and insert from front to back in first dc made, put loop back on hook and pull through first dc.
picot 2: Ch2, slst through front loop of sc at base of picot. Normally you would work ch2 and then slip stitch through first chain made, but for this picot you slip stitch through the front loop of the sc at the base of the ch2 by inserting the hook downwards (see photo).

Pattern Notes
To get a shawl of the same size as the one in the cover photo (widest point approx. 70cm and length approx. 194cm), you have to work the 6-row pattern repeat 22 times (not including Rows 1-12) and add the final 6-row round-off. If you’d like a shawl that is shorter or longer, simply work the 6-row pattern repeat as many times as needed but always end with the same 6-row round-off.

Yarn details
Our Tribe is a variegated yarn that is beautifully twined, which creates a dappled effect and thus the idea that there are even more than 6 different colours each ball consists of. The more the colours contrast, the more dappled the effect. It's super soft and works up very smoothly and quickly. It consists of 70% Merino Superwash and 30% Polyamide and comes in 100g (420m) balls suitable for hook/needle size 2.5 to 3mm, or even larger when making shawls because that'll result in a beautiful drape. It's machine washable at 40 degrees. Since the day we created the blogger colourways, quite a few new colours have been added to the range and now you can choose from 38 different colours - both variegated and single colours.
