The Lunation Shawl is an asymmetrical triangle shawl or wrap with a large edging at the top end. It's generously sized - height 185cm and widest part 122cm - so that you can wear it in a variety of ways. It's also a really rhythmic make that is very relaxing, but with a more engaging part at the end: a lovely edging consisting of 10 large points.

Pattern Notes
For this shawl you start with the Whirl yarn (751 Liquorice Yumym) from the outside (white). Towards the end of the 175 rows that make up the asymmetrical triangle, you will probably run out of Whirl yarn so then you simply continue with the Whirlette yarn (851 Liquorice). The edging is also worked in this Whirlette yarn and colour.
Instructions
Base
Start with a magic ring.
Row 1 (RS) Ch2 on top of magic ring ch (= first dc), ch1, 1dc in ring, turn, pull ring tight.
Row 2 (WS) Ch3 (counts as 1dc and ch-1 sp here and throughout), V-st in top of 3 ch, turn.
Row 3 Beg V-st in first st, ch1, V-st in ch-1 sp (which is in effect the ch3 at beginning of previous row), turn.
Row 4 Ch3, V-st in next ch-1 sp, ch1, V-st in top of 3 ch, turn.
Row 5 Beg V-st in first st, ch1, V-st in next ch-1 sp, ch1, V-st in next ch-1 sp (which is in effect the ch3 at beginning of previous row), turn.
Row 6 Ch3, V-st in next ch-1 sp, ch1, V-st in next ch-1 sp, ch1, V-st in top of 3 ch, turn.
I think by now you will have found your rhythm and it is simply a matter of repeating Rows 5 and 6 until you have a total of 175 rows:
Row 175 is a RS row.
You’ll now have a total of 88 V-sts, 87 ch-1 sps.
Fasten off.
Edging with 10 points
With RS facing, join yarn on right-hand side/diagonal side of shawl and work towards straight edge.

Blocking
To get the most beautiful result, the shawl needs blocking. For blocking you can use blocking mats or Styrofoam. Spray with some water and let it dry naturally.
Whirl and Whirlette yarn

Both yarns are made from a blend of 60% cotton and 40% acrylic, which makes for lightweight and breathable shawls (or any other garments for that matter). Whirl is a gradient yarn with a very generous twist so that it works up really quickly and it helps prevent splitting. Each colour change (and there are many, which I love because it makes the gradient so subtle) is carefully tied to ensure the knot can be discretely hidden within your stitches. So don’t worry if you come across quite a few ”knots” or rather “fluffy bits” because that means one colour thread is replaced by another colour thread that needs to be worked into the yarn.
The Whirlette yarn, which I already used for my Moonwish Wrap, has the same blend but only comes in single colours, matching some of the Whirl shades. Another difference is that the Whirl yarn cakes hold no less than 1000 metres and the Whirlette balls 455 metres.
Both yarns have a beautiful drape and that is definitely something I’d want for my shawl designs.
