Peacock Feather: 4.5 x 5cm (1.8 x 2in) with 3mm hook
Gauge/Tension
For the linen stitch part of the pouch it is important that the fabric is not too stiff so that it has a nice drape. You may either need a 3mm or 3.5mm hook depending on your tension. The bottom of the small pouch (which is worked in sc sts) should measure approx. ∅ 9.5cm, any smaller and the linen stitch rounds will probably be too tight. So it’s advised to make a swatch to see which hook size will work best for you.
For the peacock feathers tension is less critical, but if you tend to crochet loosely then a 2.5mm hook is recommended.

Pattern Notes
Pouch
Up to the decrease round, the pouch is worked in a spiral, which means that you won’t close rounds. Rather, you will continue around making the first stitch of each round in the first stitch of the previous round. It’s a good idea to use a stitch marker to keep track of your rounds: insert the marker in the first stitch of the round so that you know when you’ve finished it and then move it up to the first stitch of the next round.
From the decrease round onwards, rounds are closed with a slst.
A ribbon is woven through dc round 1 for the small and medium sized pouches and through dc round 2 for the large pouch.
French Mini Peacock Feather
There’s a separate PDF pattern for the French Mini Peacock Feather. You’ve received it together with the purchase of this PDF pattern.
The Bamboo Soft colours I used for the little feathers are listed above on page 1.
Sewing the feathers onto the pouch
I’ve sewn the feathers onto the pouch with a few small stitches in the centre and along the outer edge using machine thread in the colour of the pouch.

Next round (starts linen stitch part of Pouch) Please note: Continue to work in a spiral moving the stitch marker up with each new round. 1sc in next sc (= first sc of previous round), pm in this sc, ch1, skip next sc, (1sc in next sc, ch1, skip next sc) around.
Next round 1sc in first sc made in previous round, pm in this sc, ch1, 1sc in next ch-1 sp (please note that no st is skipped here), ch1, (1sc in next ch-1 sp, ch1) around and around until linen stitch part measures approx. 8cm for Small Pouch/10.5cm for Medium Pouch/23cm for Large Pouch, making sure to pm in first sc or ch-1 sp of each new round, end with ch1, do not fasten off.
Decrease round Please check that after this round you have an even number of sc and when you divide this even number by 2, the outcome is also an even number. For example: My Large Pouch has 72 sc in this round. Divided by 2 that makes 36, an even number. If not, work (an) additional sc as needed.
1sc in each ch-1 sp around, pm in first sc made, slst in first sc to close, do not fasten off.
Next round Ch1 (does not count as st), 1sc in sc at base of ch1, 1sc in each sc around, pm in first sc made, slst in first sc to close, do not fasten off, continue with Dc round 1 for all sizes.
Please make sure you still have the same even number of sc.
Dc round 1 for all sizes Ch3 (counts as first dc in all dc rounds), 1dc in st at base of ch3, ch1, (skip 1sc, 2dc in next sc, ch1) around, slst in first dc to close, do not fasten off.

Dc rounds 2-6 for Medium Pouch Ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch-1 sp around, slst in beg ch3 to close, do not fasten off, continue with Edging below.

Dc rounds 4-13 for Large Pouch Ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch-1 sp around, slst in beg ch3 to close, do not fasten off.

Round 2 (Ch1, slst in next sc) around, ch1, fasten off, do not close but work end to back of work with tapestry needle, weave in all ends.

Hello nicce blog
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Spout pouches are such an innovative and convenient packaging solution, especially in India where the demand for easy-to-use and portable packaging is growing. I’ve noticed them gaining popularity for beverages, oils, and even ready-to-eat foods. The ability to stand up on shelves while offering a resealable spout is a huge advantage for both manufacturers and consumers. Does anyone have recommendations for reliable suppliers or manufacturers of Spout pouches in India Also, any tips on eco-friendly or biodegradable options in this category would be awesome!
